The creation of a videogame

The aim of this project is to create a demo of a video game without having any previous knowledge about video game design. This will allow the reader to make a quick trip through
the complex world that stands behind the final product.

The project will begin with a brief explanation of some of the most important members in a video game development team. Then, after viewing which game genres are the most
popular, it will be time to start working on the game. It will all begin with a brainstorming, followed by a decision and selection of ideas. After it’s decided what wants to be done, the story genre and the video game type will be defined. This will give way to the design of the gameplay and game system.

Once the idea is settled, it will be the right time to start working on concept art and level maps. This will be the base from where the 3D construction is going to start being built.
Talking about 3D leads to the explanation of what Blender is and what are its’ more important features. After all the 3D structures and objects are done, it will be the moment to start the engine. Talking about Unreal Engine means talking about programming, the creation of materials, and making the video game work.

At the end, there will be a section that will talk about marketing and music. And this will lead the project to its conclusion, which will confirm the hipotesis.

 

L’objectiu d’aquest projecte és aprendre sobre el procés de creació d’unes obres d’art com són els videojocs. No només per saber com han estat realitzats, però també per crear un de propi, o com a mínim, una part petita del qual un joc hauria estat.

El que s’ha desenvolupat en aquest projecte ha estat una demo, que tal com el seu nom propi diu, és una demostració. Un «free to play» d’un videojoc de propera publicació. Les versions de prova serveixen usualment perquè els seus usuaris decideixin si volen adquirir o no aquella producció. La hipòtesi d’aquest treball de recerca: és possible per una persona, com únic membre en l’equip, sense tenir cap experiència prèvia en disseny de videojocs, amb temps i recursos limitats, crear la versió de prova d’un videojoc?
